Evaluation of the use of biocompounds to fight the colonisation of heritage materials by biodeteriorating microorganisms under different climatic conditions

CY Cergy Paris Université France

PhD enrolment : CY

Supervisor: Patrick Di Martino

Co-supervisor: C. Urzi

Start date September 2026

Duration (in months) 36

Objectives: Obj1. Contribution to the understanding of biodegradation processes of materials, to the understanding of ecological interactions between microorganisms on surfaces and Development of an innovative treatment based on biocompounds to combat microbial colonisation of materials; Obj2. Development of multidisciplinary approaches (biology, analytical chemistry, materials science); Obj3. Development of the platform's expertise CY I-MAT imaging

Expected Results: i) Development of innovative restoration techniques for historic monuments (active principles, formulations, processes); i) Reduction in the toxicity of restoration processes for historic monuments: improvement of the environmental impact, improvement for the health of restorers

Planned secondment(s): MCC, C. Bondioni, M25, 4 weeks, Real case study
